Concussions can occur in a slip-and-fall accident

A slip-and-fall accident is sometimes the subject of jokes. Unfortunately, they aren't always laughing matters. It is possible for those who have slip-and-fall accidents to hit their heads. This can result in concussions, which are very serious matters.

Concussions can produce a variety of symptoms. You might think that these symptoms will show up right away, but this isn't always the case. It is possible that you might not realize that you suffered a concussion for hours, days or even months after the accident. In some cases, you might brush off the symptoms you do notice as nothing more than an inconvenience.

Some of the signs to watch for after a slip-and-fall accident include a headache that doesn't get better, vomiting and dizziness. You might be sensitive to light and sound or you could have blurry vision. Ringing in the ears, trouble concentrating and feeling tired are also signs of concussions.

After a slip-and-fall where you hit your head, you may feel moodier than normal. Depression, sadness and irritability are also possible consequences. You may feel sluggish, almost like the world is moving slower than normal.

The treatments for concussions vary depending on the circumstances. A person with a history of prior concussions might feel the effects more dramatically and may need more intensive treatment. In many cases, you will be given instructions to rest your brain and might be prescribed medication to help with the symptoms.

You may choose to seek compensation for the accident. This could help you recover money to help pay for medical bills and to cover any wages you missed because you were told to take time off of work.
